In my earlier days as a busy businessman, I was incredibly stressed, it was suggested to me to attend a meditation group, so I went to the meditation class and sat through the process, before I realised, this was not for me.
The teacher wanted the group to simply follow our breath and allow our mind to go quiet. All that was in my head was, "I want to go home". I wanted to grab this woman and explain that I could not make my mind go quiet. so I left and did not return.
As time went on, I began to learn that there are actually many ways to meditation, and all are valid and all are correct. The path I had previously taken, was not the one for me. As I learned more, I realised that it was NOT about making the mind go quiet, but, about connecting to the subconscious mind. That’s when the penny dropped for me and I began to work on making the conscious mind bored in meditation and therefore it would stop censoring. When the conscious mind stops censoring and filtering, It is then that access can be made to the subconscious mind.
The Subconscious Mind
How do you do open your subconscious mind?
Well as I have mentioned, the conscious mind is a censor, or filter, therefore, you make the conscious mind busy then bored, so it stops censoring and filtering. You do this by giving it a montane task that’s not import and boring. Not unlike the instruction of the teacher, "follow your breath", but without the instruction to still the mind.
The conscious mind censors everything that happens in our daily life, if you can imagine the conscious mind is the brains of a company, it manages everything, filing events into priority, important, not important and irrelevant. It will also decide if something that happened, whether it thinks we can handle the event or not, and therefore may put the event into a pending file for later. Once it’s in the pending file, we don’t remember and from time to time, the conscious mind may also forget.
The subconscious mind is the recorder and reservoir of all that information. So our subconscious mind records everything, irrespective of the censor. Therefore everything that happens is brought into the subconscious. It too has its filing system, and from time to time, it realises that a file is missing and begins to run a program to prompt the conscious mind to hand over the file.
The subconscious mind doesn't have anything to say, it is basically a very intelligent recording device for everything that goes on. However, it is also where the programs are created, stored and executed. (I have discussed this in another article). But the subconscious mind is way more than that, it is the connection to the matrix, the connection to universal energy and frequency. It is the vehicle where human beings connect at a Heart level.
In meditation, we bypass the censoring conscious mind and gain direct access to the subconscious, we gain information, messages, wisdom and education in this universal connection.
The conscious mind does not want us to relax, or meditate, because also in residence within the conscious mind lives the ego and the ego doesn't want us accessing the subconscious mind, as the ego may lose control, as in the subconscious mind resides everything that we are.
The Ego
The ego lives in perpetual fear of annihilation, it is control, projection, self-talk, exaggerated guilt and shame. The ego is vital to our survival, yet, it can take over and cause havoc, just like an unchecked child. Just like a child, the ego is the centre of attention, the centre of the Universe. The ego is the projection of self, or rather the projection of what WE think other people see about us.
So when we meditate, to allow healing of the mind, body and heart. Also to gain wisdom and information, we want to uncensored the censor, we can do this by busing the conscious mind and give it a task to do that has no purpose like a task focussed on the breath. Now if the teacher, earlier, had explained the reason why we were doing a task focussed on the breath was to keep the mind busy so we could open up our subconscious mind. That would have made more sense.
I run classes in meditation, where I use the technique of guided meditation, this creates the environment for the conscious mind to listen to what is being said, censor what’s happening and then realise that there is nothing of importance to censor, so it stops censoring. When the censoring stops, that is when the subconscious mind is open to all possibilities and potentialities.
In that gap of all possibilities, where past, present and future are all one, we can connect with the matrix of Universal consciousness. Connect with our Source.
