Origin
Apatite is a group of phosphate minerals associated with fluorapatite, chlorapatite and hydroxyapatite with high levels of a variety of ions within. The gemstones are found in pegmatites or other igneous formations.
It is found in fossils and other sediments, where it forms masses, nodules, and crystals. Frequently found in marine deposits that are mined for phosphorous to be used in fertilisers. It can also be found as an accessory gem in other mining areas.
All crystals belong to a different group according to the basis of the relationships of their axes. There are seven systems and 32 classes of symmetry. Apatite crystals belong to the Hexagonal system.
History
The name Apatite derives from the Greek word apatao, meaning to deceive or delude.
Its defined history dates back to the 18th Century and its major sources are located in Brazil, Burma and Mexico.
Specification
Although apatite has been created synthetically, the tumbled stones are fully natural and only enhanced through tumbling, cutting, and polishing methods.
The stone is columnar, thick, and tabular, with an indistinct cleavage and varying fluorescence. The colours range from no colour to a variety of pinks, yellows, greens, violets, and blues.

This stone can sometimes be confused with other minerals, including Calcites and Beryls.

Appearance: Apatite has a vitreous lustre with an indistinct cleavage with varied fluorescence. It is also known as a brittle stone.
Aura: Blue Apatite is known for its cleansing influence on the Aura and its vibratory levels are connected to paranormal or psychic perception.
Colour: Apatite colours range from no colour to a variety of pinks, yellows, greens, and violets. However, these attributes are exclusively for blue Apatite.
Chakra: Blue Apatite is primarily associated with the Throat Chakra and also helps balance the Chakras with the Ying and Yang energies.
