Rhodochrosite - International Crystals Encyclopedia https://www.atlantisinstitute.org/
|
Origin - the place or situation from which something comes, the beginning of something’s existence, the point from which it starts out, the thing from which it is ultimately derived. |
Rhodochrosite is a manganese carbonate mineral that is formed in low temperature ore deposits in hydrothermal veins.
It was first found in the Silver Mines in Romania and can materialise in a variety of pink to brown shades dependant on the type of impurities that dwell within the formation. These can consist of calcium, iron carbonate and, to a lesser extent, zinc and magnesium.
Even though it is commonly formed in sedimentary settlements it can also be found as stalagmites in Silver Mines located in Argentina.
All crystals belong to a different group according to the basis of the relationships of their axes. There are 7 systems and 32 classes of symmetry. Rhodochrosite crystals belong to the Trigonal system.
|
History - the past considered as a whole, the whole series of past events connected with someone or sometihing, a continuous typically chronological record of importance. |
Rhodochrosite was first referenced in 1813 in relation to a sample obtained from the Cavnic mines in Romania. This however, was debated by Dimitrescu and Radulescu in 1966 and Papp in 1997 who connected the find to Sacaramb in Romania rather than Cavnic.
The name derives from the Greek term for ‘rose coloured’ and is the national gemstone of Argentina where it is found in stalagmite form. It is also the state gemstone of Colorado in the U.S.
It is highly sought by collectors, however due to its softness and perfect cleavage is difficult to cut for faceted jewelery.
|
Specification - the act of describing or identifying something precisely, a detailed description of the design and materials used to make something. |
Rhodochrosite has an uneven conchoidal fracture with a perfect cleavage. The stone has a vitreous to pearly luster and a brittle tenacity. It is a soft stone and measures 3.5-4 on the Mohs scale rating of hardness. It can sometimes present as banded.
The softness of the stone and the perfect cleavage allows for difficulty in cutting which makes it rarely used for the purpose of faceted jewellery. It is highly sought and popular with collectors.
It can also be used as an ore of manganese to form stainless steel materials and other types of aluminium alloys.
|
Varieties - a number or range of things of the same general class that are different or distinct in character or quality. |
Rhodochrosite is determined as a variety by its colour, based on the impurity type that has formed within. It is also known as Rosinca, Inca Rose or Rosa del Inca.
|
Esoteric Attributes - a quality or feature as characteristic of or possed by something. |
Crystals by their very nature are able to receive and focus energy in different ways. Their molecular structure enables them to be used to amplify and convert energy and hence crystals have been used for centuries to aid healing and transmute energy both in the metaphysical and physical world.
Because each crystal family has different formational backgrounds, each also has different vibrational frequencies that can be harnesed and used for specific purposes. Each therefore have specific qualities that can be used to help a person heal on the many different levels of their being.
The following is a list of healing attributes associated with Rhodochrosite crystals.
|
Mental: Rhodochrosite crystals enhance the speed of things and makes for dynamic and active thought. |
Emotional: Rhodochrosite is an erotic enhancer that amplifies sexuality. It also aids in making a person more cheerful and joyful. |
Physical: Rhodochrosite is an aid to migraine and abdominal pain. It helps to increase blood pressure and is used to boost circulation. |
